Museo del Prado de Madrid

Rubio Arquitectura, architecture firm with who Jorge Montalván collaborates, and Foster+Partners, have won the international competition to design the project to refurbishing the Hall of Realms for the Museo del Prado in Madrid.

Rubio Arquitectura

Since February, Jorge Montalván combines his own architecture practice, with Rubio Arquitectura studio. Studios that has recently received the XII Veronica Rudge Green Prize, awarded by the Harvard Graduate School of Design for the Madrid-Rio project. The project was developed in collaboration with Burgos & Garrido, Porras & Lacasta, Alvarez-Sala and Dutch team West 8.

MATE: Asociación Mario Testino – Offices & Lofts

Gonzalo Cruz and Jorge Montalván from Dominio Publico arquitectos were invited by worldwide recognized photographer Mario Testino, to participate in a private competition for the “MATE:Asociacion Mario Testino” (http://www.mate.pe/) new offices. The 2500 sqm project also includes 10 lofts, art storage and 3 parking levels.

1ºst Price – Urban Planning for Vallecas l Madrid – Spain.

In collaboration with Marta Frazao and Giorgio Streuli, Jorge Montalván won first prize for the initial stage of the competition for Vallecas (Madrid-Spain), an urban planning project organized by the Empresa Municipal de la Vivienda y el Suelo (EMVS). A date for the call for entries of the final phase is still to be determined.

Master in City & Housing

Jorge Montalván enhances his professional career with a Master of Architecture y City & Housing, given by the Escuela Técnica Superior de Madrid (ETSAM), for which he won one of the seven scholarships given by the Empresa Municipal del Suelo y la Vivienda (EMVS). Wiel Arets, Anne Lacaton, Juan Herreros, Jacob Van Rijs, Dietmar Eberle among others were professors.

Riverside Garden: 3 Towers l Bangkok-Thailand.

The Riverside Garden Project designed by Iu+Bibliowicz architects, office where Jorge Montalván collaborated as part as the project team, was completed by 2006.

Located along the Chaopraya River in Bangkok, Thailand, the Riverside Garden project consists of three 30-story residential towers located above a seven-story podium. Tower One is a luxury hotel, Tower Two contains high-end rental apartments, while Tower Three was developed as condominium apartments (See link).

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater l Manhattan, New York – USA

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater´s Joan Weill Center for Dance designed by Iu+Bibliowicz architecs, office where Jorge Montalván collaborated as part as the project team, was completed by 2004.
The new building located at 55th street & 9th av, in New York, consists of eight floors, six above and two below grade. Among its features are 12 dance studios, a 5,000-square.foot black box theater with flexible seating for 295, adjacent green room and concession stand/boutique, dressing rooms and warm-up areas, archive and library facilities, costume shop, physical therapy facilities, lounges, and administrative offices (See link).
